THE Ah1n1 flu (swine flu)

Update for May 5, 2009

Marymount College is closely monitoring the progress of the AH1N1 flu and is following guidance provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu) and the World Health Organization (http://www.who.int/en/).  The College has formed a team with representatives from across the campus to advise its students, faculty and staff. To date, there are no suspected or confirmed cases of AH1N1 on the Marymount College campus.

We are asking our College community to take everyday actions to stay healthy, including:

Covering your mouth and nose when coughing.
Using a tissue and dispose of it in the trash.
Washing your hands often with soap and water.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Trying to avoid close contact with sick people.

And, if you feel ill, please stay home and limit your contact with others.

Student Health CenterThe signs and symptoms of H1N1 flu are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu including fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.  Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting in addition to the other symptoms.

If you have symptoms, please contact your health care provider.  Your physician will determine if testing or other treatment is necessary.

It is recommended for those who have plans to travel that they first check the Center for Disease Control and Prevention at http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu.
