ARC to Hold “Gems of Appalachia” Grant Competition
ARC will issue a request for proposals in the early summer for its “Gems of Appalachia” grant competition, which aims to promote sustainable tourism in “gateway” communities in Tennessee and Kentucky adjacent to the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. Nonprofit organizations, local governments, public education institutions, and local and regional development organizations located in Tennessee’s Scott, Fentress, Pickett, and Morgan Counties, and in Kentucky’s McCreary, Wayne, and Whitley Counties, are eligible to apply for the grants. Projects selected for funding will be announced in August 2009.

To receive email updates on the Gems of Appalachia grant competition, email Molly Theobald, ARC program analyst, at mtheobald@arc.gov and include “Big South Fork” in the subject line.
