Objectives

The US Geological Survey is to provide technical support to the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Region III on Superfund sites. The technical support will provide the USEPA an unbiased, scientifically-based reviews, field assistance and other support functions that the USEPA can use for environmental decisions.

Statement of Problem

The US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Region III is responsible for a number of Superfund sites in the Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. area that have hydrogeologic and geologic issues. The US Geological Survey will provide, when requested by the USEPA, geologic and hydrologic reviews, field assistance and interpretative studies, or attend public meetings and negotiations.
