Organic Analytical Toxicology

The Organic Analytical Toxicology Branch conducts research and develops methods for analyzing selected synthetic and naturally occurring organic chemicals and their metabolites or reaction products in blood or urine. The branch measures levels in people of dioxins and furans; polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs); coplanar PCBs; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; alkyl phenols; disinfectants and fumigants; herbicides and fungicides; organochlorine, organophosphate, and carbamate pesticides; phthalates; perfluorinated chemicals and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
