Coast Guard Repatriates 73 Haitian Migrants

April 23, 2009 (Miami) - The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma repatriated 73 Haitian migrants to Cap Haitien, Haiti, after they were interdicted near Soldier Key in Miami. More at USCG.mil

9 Illegal Workers Face Criminal Charges

April 14, 2009 (Hammond, Ind.) -  Nine contract janitorial workers first arrested for administrative immigration violations were criminally arrested for Social Security and false identification offenses. All except one are charged with entering the United States illegally, misusing a Social Security number; and using a false identification document. More at ICE.gov

Border Patrol, Texas Troopers Arrest 28 Illegal Aliens

April 8, 2009 (Laredo, Tex.) - Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents and Texas Department of Safety troopers apprehended 28 illegal aliens. The driver of a tractor-trailer fled a checkpoint, but was stopped by spike strips. Agents and troopers found 28 undocumented aliens in the trailer. The driver and the aliens were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. More at CBP.gov

ICE Arrests 10 in Gang Operation

April 2, 2009 (Concord, N.C.) - An ICE-led operation arrested 10 foreign-born gang members and associates with ties to local violent street gangs. The operation targeted foreign-born members and associates of MS-13 and Brown Pride street gangs. Of those arrested, nine are nationals of Mexico and one from El Salvador. All of them were found to be illegally present in the United States and are now in ICE custody; however, two of them, although administratively arrested, were remanded to State custody due to criminal offenses that include narcotics violations and obstruction of justice. Coast Guard Repatriates 45 Haitian Migrants

April 1, 2009 (Miami) - The Coast Guard Cutter Tampa repatriated 45 Haitian migrants to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, after they were intercepted at sea. More at USCG.mil

Border Patrol Nabs 15 Mexican Nationals on California Coast

March 31, 2009 (Cardiff By The Sea, Calif.) - Fifteen Mexican nationals were apprehended by Border Patrol agents on the shore of Seaside Beach in Cardiff by the Sea. The group allegedly entered using a smuggling boat. The illegal aliens are currently in federal custody pending further investigation. More at CBP.gov

CBP Agents Save 8 Illegal Aliens in Drainage Pipe

March 15, 2009 (San Ysidro, Calif.) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents saved eight illegal aliens who were trapped inside a drainage pipe under the San Ysidro port of entry. The eight individuals--two females, fives males, and a 16-year-old male juvenile--are undocumented citizens of Mexico. One male, identified as a previously deported alien, was arrested and charged with re-entry after deportation. The juvenile was turned over to the custody of the Mexican Consulate. The remaining six were  returned to Mexico. More at CBP.gov

ICE Indicts 21 Cuban Nationals for Alien Smuggling

March 5, 2009 (Miami) - Twenty-one individuals have been indicted on alien smuggling charges and related offenses involving the attempted smuggling of over 151 foreign nationals into the United States following an ICE-led investigation. They have been charged with conspiracy to smuggle aliens, conspiracy to smuggle aliens for profit, extortion, encouraging and inducing aliens to enter the United States, fleeing from the U.S. Coast Guard, and failure to appear in court. Coast Guard Interdicts 22 Migrants

March 2, 2009 (San Diego) - The Coast Guard intercepted 22 Mexican nationals suspected of attempting to enter the country illegally just northwest of the U.S./Mexican border. More at USCG.mil

ICE Agents Arrest 28 Illegal Workers in Bellingham

February 24, 2009 (Bellingham, Wash.) - ICE agents arrested 28 foreign nationals on administrative immigration violations at a local engine manufacturing company. ICE initiated the investigation after the arrest of a criminal illegal alien who had previously worked at the company. Further investigation of the company's hiring records revealed that some workers may have obtained employment using false Social Security numbers and other counterfeit identity documents. The illegal workers will be placed in deportation proceedings. Of the 28, 25 are Mexican nationals, one was Salvadoran, one Guatemalan and one Honduran. More at ICE.gov

Coast Guard Rescues, Returns 214 Haitian Migrants

February 23, 2009 (Miami) - The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Spencer returned 214 Haitian migrants to Cap Haitien, Haiti after the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Pea Island located a grossly overloaded sail freighter about 23 miles east of Cuba. More at USCG.mil

10 Gang Members Arrested in ICE-led Operation in Charlotte

February 19, 2009 (Charlotte, N.C.) - Ten foreign-born gang members with ties to local violent street gangs were arrested following an ICE-led operation.Those arrested were illegally present in the United States and are now in ICE custody. Four of them, although administratively arrested, were referred to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina for possible criminal prosecution due to criminal offenses including drug and firearm possession and re-entering the United States after deportation. Border Patrol Agents Arrest 77 in Arizona

February 9, 2009 (Tucson, Ariz.) - CBP agents arrested 77 Mexican nationals after camera operators identified the unusually large group crossing the international border fence from Mexico. As the group crossed, a coordinated effort between agents of the Douglas and nearby Naco stations, along with Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine, resulted in the arrest of 77 individuals. CBP Agents Arrest 12 Illegal Aliens

February 4, 2009 (San Clemente, Calif.) - Border Patrol agents apprehended 12 Mexican nationals suspected of illegally entering the country at sea using a smuggling boat. More at CBP.gov

ICE Teams Arrest 95 in Georgia, Carolinas

February 3, 2009 (Atlanta) - ICE officers arrested 92 fugitives aliens and three immigration violators throughout Georgia and the Carolinas during a four-day initiative. Of those arrested, 92 had final orders of deportation, three were immigration violators encountered during the course of the targeted operation; 24 of those arrested had previous criminal convictions that spanned from DUI, larceny and felony credit card fraud, assault, and first degree burglary. ICE Arrests 117 in Florida

February 3, 2009 (Miami) - ICE officers arrested 117 fugitive aliens and immigration violators during a five-day fugitive enforcement operation. ICE officers arrested 89 immigration fugitives who ignored lawful orders of removal and 28 other immigration violators. Of the 117 arrested, 30 had criminal histories that spanned from assault, battery, DUI, aggravated battery, trespassing, larceny, burglary, resisting arrest, soliciting prostitution, cocaine possession, marijuana possession, molestation and transporting narcotics. Coast Guard Conducts Two Migrant Interdictions

February 1, 2009 (San Diego) - The U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team San Diego interdicted two separate vessels that tried to illegally enter the U.S. The eight illegal immigrants identified on board were turned over to Maritime Task Force officers for further processing. U.S. Customs and Border Protection marine enforcement agents took custody of the two vessels. More at USCG.mil
