U.S.-Canada Cross Border Interoperable Communications Workshop

Department of Homeland Security and Public Safety Canada are hosting the 2009 Cross Border Interoperable Communications Workshop May 13-15

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) and Public Safety Canada are pleased to co-host the inaugural U.S.-Canada Cross Border Interoperable Communications Workshop to be held May 13 - 15, 2009, in Niagara Falls, New York at the Conference Center Niagara Falls with guest rooms at the Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls.

Purpose

This event will bring together a broad base of users and officials from all levels of government from both nations with an interest in cross border communications along the U.S.-Canada border.  Through topic based panels and interactive breakout sessions, the workshop aims to help users and officials to develop a common understanding of and a unified approach to U.S.-Canadian cross border interoperability challenges.  During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to provide direct input to senior U.S. and Canadian government officials regarding future action plans to address those cross border interoperability challenges identified in the breakout sessions.

Interoperability leaders and users from:

  • Emergency Response Agencies (law enforcement, fire, paramedics, emergency managers)
  • Other Public Safety Providers (federal, state/provincial, and local/municipal)
  • Military and Coast Guard
  • Government Agencies and Utilities

The Workshop is only open to public safety and government officials.
