Although numerous models are in place to describe the transport and fate of fecal indicator bacteria in surface water and ground water (e.g., the TMDL process), very little is known about the transport and fate of specific microbial pathogens. This project is studying the distribution of pathogenic and antibiotic-resistant E. coli and enterococci bacteria in a swine lagoon storage facility, water from adjacent wells, and soils to which swine lagoon wastes were applied.
