Fortenberry: Library of Congress Increases Access to World's Cultural Treasures
Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today commented on the United States Library of Congress’ unprecedented initiative to bring free online access to many of the world’s most significant cultural works to the public. This initiative, the World Digital Library, launched on April 21, 2009, with the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Fortenberry Meets with Health, Homeland Security Officials on H1N1 Outbreak
Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today received a briefing from the Department of Homeland Security Director and Health and Human Services Secretary, as well as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials, regarding the U.S. outbreak of the H1N1 virus, otherwise being referred to as “swine flu.”

Fortenberry: Plan B Decision Jeopardizes Health and Well-Being of Minors, Usurps Parental Rights
Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today commented on the recent legal issue surrounding the availability to minors of an emergency contraceptive drug. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Wednesday decided not to appeal a District Court ruling requiring the sale of an emergency contraceptive known as “Plan B” to minors as young as 17. In March, a U.S. District Court Judge in New York gave the FDA 30 days to lower the age limit for the product’s sale to 17.
