April 24, 2009 - Rep. Dicks met with the Washington State Champions of the We the People Competition from Gig Harbor High School during their trip to Washington DC. April 15, 2009 - Rep. Dicks attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Center for Urban Waters in Tacoma. The groundbreaking was a water ceremony which symbolized the cleanup of the Puget Sound.

Park Stimulus Funding To Boost Elwha Project
4/22/2009 – National Parks in Washington State will receive nearly $62 million in construction and rehabilitation funding that is being released by the Interior Department as part of the government’s economic stimulus program effort, U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks said Wednesday.

FY 2010 Appropriations Requests
4/3/2009 – Congressman Dicks has sent to the House Appropriations Committee a series of recommendations for specific federal expenditures that affect people and programs in the 6th Congressional District and Washington State.  These recommendations are being made following the submission of requests to the Congressman from local governments, non-profit organizations, educational institutions and area businesses.   As part of the effort to increase transparency in the appropriations process, we are posting these requests at this time in order to assure that fellow legislators and constituents can learn about these projects before the relevant subcommittees make a decision on which may be funded.

3/25/2009 – Congressman Dicks is pleased to announce his office’s participation in the 27th annual Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” which allows high school students from across the United States to showcase their artistic ability. Stimulus Bill Contains Nearly $7 billion for State
2/13/2009 – A preliminary analysis of the economic stimulus bill passed Friday by Congress indicates that Washington will receive nearly $4.7 billion in direct funding for new job creation and state assistance funding in addition to an estimated $2 billion that will go to accelerate environmental cleanup at the Hanford Reservation, according to Congressman Norm Dicks.

Congress Acting Quickly on Economic Stimulus Bill
2/5/2009 – This month Congress is working with the new Obama Administration to address the nation’s economic crisis by swiftly approving a series of initiatives to stimulate our economy -- creating jobs and helping repair and rebuild roads, bridges, water systems and school buildings.  On Jan. 27th the House approved the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which would provide about $819 billion for infrastructure projects, assistance to states and tax cuts for working-class Americans.

10/16/2008 – Concentrate on catching terrorists and smugglers, U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks said he's told the Border Patrol. "Those are the things they should be focusing on," Dicks told the Peninsula Daily News during a wide-ranging interview Wednesday. Dicks, D-Belfair, said he had heard of citizens who felt intimidated by recent Border Patrol roadblocks on U.S. Highway 101.
