On Monday, May 4, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.)
announced a $1 million NASA grant for the Burlington Technical
Center's Aviation Technology Center. Leahy was joined by
students from the Technical Center, Lt. Governor Brian Dubie,
Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss, Laura Zeno of the UVM-NASA EPSCoR
program, and the director of the Aviation Technology Program Rick

On April 30, 2009, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.)
and his wife Marcelle met with Captain Richard Phillips and his wife
Andrea (both of Underhill, Vt.) while Captain Phillips was on
Capitol Hill to testify about his experience being kidnapped and
held hostage by Somali pirates. Mrs. Leahy and Mrs. Phillips
are both registered nurses and are both graduates of Rice High
School. Sen. Leahy sponsored a resolution, cosponsored by Sen.
Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), that passed the Senate on April 22 to honor
Captain Phillips and his rescuers. Click
