Programs for Hosts
The U.S. Department of State offers several programs through which hosts may request Fulbrighters for their campuses.

Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA)
The Fulbright FLTA program is a nine-month, non-degree program providing future teachers of English with the opportunity to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of U.S. society and culture while strengthening foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities, and some high schools. Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World
The Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World awards short-term grants for three-to-six weeks to scholars from the Middle East, South and Central Asia, and selected countries in East Asia, Africa, and Europe to help U.S. higher education institutions and communities enrich their understanding of Islamic civilization and culture and social, political, and economic developments in the Muslim world. Fulbright Visiting Specialists are matched with U.S. applicant institutions and lecture or teach short courses, assist with program and curriculum development, interact with students, and participate in public outreach programs with community groups, local schools, and civic organizations. Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program
The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) Program brings scholars and professionals from abroad to U.S. college and university campuses for a semester or an academic year, primarily to teach undergraduate courses. SIR grantees also assist in developing curricula and serve as a resource for faculty, students, and the community. Approximately 50 grants are awarded annually worldwide. Fulbright European Union Scholar in Residence Program
The Fulbright European Union Scholar-in-Residence (EUSIR) Program aims to strengthen U.S. expertise in EU Affairs. The program brings approximately 3 scholars and professionals from EU countries to U.S. college and university campuses for semester-long grants to give guest lectures and seminars, consult with faculty and students on research, engage in collaborative study and provide outreach to neighboring institutions and the local community. The Educational Information and Resources Branch of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State supports more than 450 EducationUSA advising centers, which actively promote U.S. higher education in 8 regions and 170 countries around the world and assist roughly 25 million prospective international students each year in person, by telephone, through e-mail, and on the Internet. These centers, while representing U.S. higher education as a whole, can be a valuable source of information and, ultimately, students for U.S. campuses that recruit international students.
