This is the Salsa Die–Struck Lapel Pin
The Postal Service™ issued 37–cent, Let’s Dance/Bailemos commemorative stamps in four designs, on September 17, 2005, in Miami, Florida, and New York, New York. With the issuance of these stamps, the U.S. Postal Service® honors the contributions of Latino art to American culture featuring images that showcase one of four popular dances on each stamp. The stamps were designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland, based on the personal interpretations of the dances made by four Latino artists.
Capturing motion in the billowing skirts of a salsa dancer, José Ortega uses palm leaves to refer to Salsa's tropical roots in the Caribbean, and a cityscape to suggest its New York City birthplace.
