Container Security Initiative
(CBP). Container Security Initiative (CSI) is a program intended to help increase security for containerized cargo shipped to the United States from around the world. CSI addresses the threat to border security and global trade posed by the potential for terrorist use of a maritime container to deliver a weapon.

Secure Freight Initiative
Under the Secure Freight Initiative, containers from identified ports are scanned for radiation and information risk factors before being allowed to depart for the United States. In the event of a detection alarm, both homeland security personnel and host country officials will simultaneously receive an alert.

Small Vessel Security Summits are being held to discuss the concerns and issues posed by small vessels being used by terrorists in the maritime domain of the United States.

US-VISIT Traveler Information
The biometric data gathered by US-VISIT is unique and virtually impossible to forge. Collecting biometrics helps the U.S. government prevent people from using fraudulent documents to enter the country illegally. US-VISIT is part of a continuum of security measures that begins overseas and continues through a visitor's arrival in and departure from the United States.

Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requires all citizens of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda to have a passport or other accepted document that establishes the bearer's identity and nationality to enter or depart the United States from within the Western Hemisphere.
