Gutierrez Statement on Resignation of Treasury Secretary John Snow and Nomination of Henry M. Paulson, Jr.
WASHINGTON—Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez today released the following statement on the resignation of U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow and the President’s nomination of Henry M. Paulson, Jr. as Treasury Secretary:
"Secretary Snow provided the leadership and experience our economy needed to create jobs and grow businesses. His tireless work on behalf of working families and small businesses helped spur historically low unemployment rates and a robust economic resurgence. It has been an honor and a pleasure serving alongside such a distinguished and dedicated public servant.
"I look forward to working with President Bush’s nominee for the Secretary of the Treasury, Henry M. Paulson, Jr. His tremendous business experience and vast knowledge of economic issues will be pivotal as we work together to continue to advance the President’s economic policies that create jobs and opportunities for U.S. families and businesses."
