Ken W. Krauss, Ph.D. 2004. Environmental and Evolutionary Biology, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Physiological ecology, ecological functions of mangrove and freshwater forested wetlands, ecohydrology, Pacific islands.

Krauss’s current research focuses on two principal topics: (1) physiological ecology, stand water use, and hydrological monitoring of coastal swamps and marshes in south Florida, and (2) stress physiology, soil respiration, and carbon cycling in tidal freshwater forested wetlands of Louisiana, South Carolina, and Georgia. Past research includes sedimentation dynamics, tree growth, and regeneration of Micronesian mangroves and freshwater forested wetlands; invasion biology of mangroves in the Hawaiian intertidal environment; and improvement of salt tolerance in baldcypress for use in coastal rehabilitation programs.
