Climate Technology Partnership (CTP)
The Climate Technology Partnership (CTP) promotes investment in market-viable, clean energy technologies that help to meet economic and development goals of participating countries. CTP works with interagency teams in China, Korea, and Mexico to select technology priorities and develop strategic plans to increase investment in these technology areas.
Interagency teams include important in-country stakeholders such as government agencies, business representatives, industry groups, NGOs, and research/academic institutions. In addition, CTP works closely with an international network of private-sector contacts and other technology transfer stakeholders.
Previously called the Technology Cooperation Agreement Pilot Project (TCAPP) from 1998 through 2001, this program had extensive progress in the Philippines and Egypt. It also made major strides on efficient motor systems and grid-connected wind power in China.
Under a collaborative partnership, NREL and Winrock International continue to expand CTP's business network and to engage private-sector companies in the process by giving them an opportunity to provide input and to receive first access to investment opportunities in countries participating in CTP. CTP is sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
