Green Business Program

Welcome!
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is committed to achieving clean air to protect the public's health and the environment in the San Francisco Bay region. The Air District aims to:
 · Attain and Maintain Air Quality Standards
 · Increase Public Awareness of Positive Air Quality Choices
 · Develop and Implement Protocol and Policies for Environmental Justice

Gas Station Vapor Recovery Upgrades Required
State law required California gas stations to upgrade their gasoline dispensing equipment by April 1, 2009. These new systems will further reduce smog forming emissions at Bay Area stations by 1.5 tons per day.

Updated Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan
The Air District's 2007 Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan is available for viewing. The plan describes the Air District’s ambient air monitoring network for the most recent full year of operation, and includes proposed changes to the air monitoring network during 2008 and 2009.

2009 Clean Air Plan
The Air District is working to prepare 2009 Clean Air Plan with its regional agency partners (MTC, ABAG, and BCDC). The District will host three public workshops to discuss progress on the 2009 Clean Air Plan on April 27, 29, and 30.

CEQA Guidelines Update
The Air District is updating its CEQA Guidelines for assessing air quality impacts of projects and plans and will be hosting a number of regional public workshops over the next few months to discuss the process and collect input. The CEQA Guidelines Update will address significance thresholds, assessment methodologies, and mitigation strategies for criteria air pollutants, air toxics, odors, and greenhouse gas emissions. Please visit our CEQA Guidelines webpage to view and download workshop notices and content, and draft documents as they become available. The District will host the next CEQA Guidelines Update public workshop at three locations in the Bay Area (Redwood City, Oakland and Petaluma) on April 27, 29, and 30.

Third Call for FOCUS Priority Development Area Applications
FOCUS applications are now being accepted for designation of regional Priority Development Areas (PDAs) that encourage infill development near transit within the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. Local governments or congestion management and transit agencies interested in coordinating a multiple-jurisdiction application may submit applications. Jurisdictions with designated PDAs may be eligible to apply for a variety of capital funds and planning grants for the PDAs within their jurisdiction.

The deadline for submitting an application is June 12, 2009.

Visit http://www.bayareavision.org/pdaapplication/ to download the application materials and to learn more about the FOCUS Program.
