Detailed Forecast Discussion
Latest surface analysis showing frontal boundary pushing into the Hattiesburg area helping spark off scattered showers/T-storms around the MS coast. This afternoon, cold front will continue to progress towards the forecast area, keeping showers/T-storms in the forecast as daytime Highs will climb into the upper 80s. Ozone conditions will remain in the good range thanks to humid conditions scattered T-storms, dampening ozone formation. Tonight, cold front will push south of the coastline with just a slight chance for an overnight T-storm for the area as lows drop into the middle 70s. Thursday, aforementioned cold front is forecasted to hang just off the coastline putting the MS Coast is slightly drier air-mass. Most of the area will see partly cloudy skies yet cannot rule out an isolated pop up T-storm in the afternoon/evening hours thanks to diurnal heating/afternoon sea breeze boundary. Highs will climb close to 90 with ozone conditions potentially climbing into the moderate category thanks to slightly drier air-mass/less humid conditions, enabling ozone formation. Thursday night, skies will be partly cloudy with lows in the lower 70s. Friday and Saturday, aforementioned cold front moves north of the area, as westward expansion of Bermuda Ridge builds back into the area. Surface instability coupled with daytime heating will give way to pop up/hit or miss scattered afternoon showers/T-storms as highs climb close to 90. Ozone conditions will remain in the good range both days thanks to humid conditions/southerly flow, dampening ozone formation. Friday and Saturday night, there will be an isolated chance for a T-storm early; otherwise skies will be partly cloudy with lows in the middle 70s.
