Beginning with FY 2007, the State Department reconfigured its annual reporting documents and publishing dates to participate in the Office of Management and Budget's Pilot Program for Alternative Approaches to Performance and Accountability Reporting. As part of the Pilot Program reporting schedule, the Department provides financial reporting, a complete performance report, and a summary of performance and financial information. The Department also prepares a two-page Budget, Performance, and Financial Snapshot of high-priority outcomes and financial results.
The Remediation Plan fulfills the State Department's statutory reporting requirement under the Federal Financial Management Improvement Act of 1996. FFMIA requires an agency to submit a Remediation Plan when the agency's financial systems are not in substantial compliance with Federal accounting standards, the U.S. Government Standard General Ledger at the transaction level, or Federal financial management systems requirements.
