Downloading, Installing, and Running the CRW
There are two options for updating to a new version of the Chemical Reactivity Worksheet (CRW). The option that you choose will depend primarily on whether or not you've created any custom chemicals:
- If you don't have custom chemicals, you can just delete your old version of the CRW and then download and install the new version. This will allow you to get the latest chemical database and interface changes; however, you will lose any saved mixtures that you've created.
- If you have custom chemicals, this update procedure will allow you to update to a new version of the database without deleting your custom chemicals or your saved mixtures.
Downloading the CRW
To download the CRW for Windows or Macintosh, choose the appropriate download link, at right.
Installing the CRW
On a Windows PC
Once you have downloaded the installation program, in Windows Explorer, double-click the "CRW2 Installer.exe" file icon, then follow the directions you'll see on your screen.
On a Macintosh
The CRW has been compressed so that you can download it from the Internet. Some browsers are configured to automatically decode compressed files. If yours is, you should see a folder called "Chemical Reactivity Worksheet 2.0.2" on your desktop. If your browser is not configured to decode files, you need a decoding utility to install the CRW. (You can obtain a free copy of the decoding utility StuffIt Expander by using the link at right.) To uncompact the program, use your decoding utility.
Running the CRW
In Windows
To start the CRW, open the Start menu, point to Programs, then click CRW2. Follow the directions on your screen to learn how to use it.
On a Macintosh
Open the "Chemical Reactivity Worksheet 2.0.2" folder, and then double-click the file "Reactive.sta" to start the CRW. Follow the directions on your screen to learn how to use it.
