TI has updated the monthly section of our website to include the preliminary January-October 1998 U.S. citizen international outbound air traffic summary data from the I-92 data base. This data is part of the reported information included in the "U.S. International Air Travel Statistics Report" issued to subscribers. The information presented here, is reported monthly by TI. Please visit this area each month to keep up-to-date on U.S. citizen outbound travel. You can find this information at: http://www.tinet.ita.doc.gov/research/monthly/departures/index.html

The updated information is posted under 1998.

You will see the I-92 departures data for U.S. citizens shows that total outbound traffic has grown by 7% over January-October 1997. Europe is the largest generator of air traffic at 9.5 million travelers, up over 9% for the period. Central America has seen the fast growth, at almost 20% through October 1998, although it is only the fifth largest region for overseas travel. Overseas excludes Canada and Mexico.

The website release is ONLY a summary of the 1998 monthly data issued in TI's "U.S. International Air Travel Statistics Report." This in-depth statistical report is sold to subscribers. In addition to providing U.S. citizen outbound data by world region, the full report provides numerous subsets of air traffic figures for U.S. international arrival and departure flights.
