In 2008, the Utah State Legislature made it illegal to possess or transport invasive mussels. If you have been in an infested water, you must now DECONTAMINATE your boat and equipment before entering or traveling in Utah.

Zebra mussels were discovered for the first time in Utah on Nov 18, 2008 in Electric Lake.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources' (UDWR) Aquatic Invasive Species Program was launched on July 1, 2007. Program initiation followed briefings of the Department of Natural Resources, the Governor's Office and the Legislature's Natural Resources Interim Appropriation Committee about threat to Utah from Dreissenid mussel species (quagga and zebra mussels). The 2008 Legislature passed the Utah Aquatic Invasive Species Interdiction Act.

African Bee Detected in Southern Utah (Jan 2009)

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food has detected the presence of the Africanized Honey Bee in Washington and Kane Counties of Southern Utah. For more about African Bees in Utah.

Bullfrogs Found in the Uinta Basin (Utah) (Sep 21, 2007)

The American bullfrog is native to the eastern U.S and Canada. It is illegal to possess or transport one in Utah. Call (435) 781-5315 to report sightings of bullfrogs in Utah.

Keep Lake Powell Free of Zebra and Quagga Mussels
