The Research Support Facilities (RSF) for NREL and DOE-Golden Field Office will be a sustainable green building, due to be completed in the summer of 2010. This page provides information about the building, the prototype at Golden Hill, construction, and parking.

Building Description

The RSF building is being designed for about 740 staff from NREL and DOE. This new flagship building will:

RSF Prototype at Golden Hill

NREL's Information Services (IS) staff are the first to prototype new workstations and technologies being planned for the RSF. By the time employees move into the RSF in 2010, this group will know all about the "workplace of the future."

Nearly 100 employees are now prototyping several new workstation configurations that utilize shorter cube heights and allow for maximum daylighting and lower energy costs. Along with the furniture, IS will showcase many of the new information technologies being planned for the RSF.

Tours of Golden Hill will be offered to NREL and DOE staff in the first quarter of 2009.

Construction

Haselden Construction has started infrastructure work to prepare for the RSF construction, which is scheduled to start mid-February. Construction workers are using a separate roadway east of the Visitors Center to gain access to the South Table Mountain RSF construction site. Please use caution when entering and exiting the site. Heavy construction traffic is expected throughout the duration of the project.

If you have questions, please contact Carl Cox at 384-7858. Construction updates on all the South Table Mountain permanent site construction are available.

Parking

Beginning February 2, the southern tier of the SERF/STF parking lot will be closed to employee parking. The top two northern rows of parking will be closed for about two weeks through mid-February. The Visitor Center parking lot will not be affected by construction. A map with alternative parking options is available (PDF 197 KB). Download Adobe Reader.
