Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominatations:
Air Force Lt. Gen. Ronald E. Keys has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff, Air and Space Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. Keys is currently serving as commander, Allied Air Forces Southern Europe, North Atlantic Treaty Organization; and commander, Sixteenth Air Force, U.S. Air Force Europe, Naples, Italy.
Air Force Lt. Gen. Norton A. Schwartz has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as director for operations, J-3, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Schwartz is currently serving as commander, Alaskan Command, U.S. Pacific Command; commander, Eleventh Air Force, Pacific Air Force; and commander, Alaskan North American Aerospace Defense Command Region, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.
Air Force Maj. Gen. Carrol H. Chandler has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Alaskan Command, United States Pacific Command; commander, Eleventh Air Force, Pacific Air Forces; and commander, Alaskan North American Aerospace Defense Command Region, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Chandler is currently serving as director, Aerospace Operations, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.
