Important Notice: As a result of the Economic Stimulus Package recently signed into law, all claimants eligible for Unemployment Programs will receive an additional check of $25 for each week of benefits beginning the week of February 22, 2009. Read more about the additional benefit check.
Important Notice: All systems for filing Unemployment Insurance are currently available.

If you are filing for regular Unemployment Insurance Benefits or requesting regular Unemployment Insurance benefit checks, please use the internet at www.kewes.ky.gov.

If you are filing an Extended Unemployment claim, please use the internet.

If you are requesting Extended Unemployment benefit checks, please do so by calling 866-291-2926.

If you are requesting your benefit check you may do so anytime during the week you were instructed to Sunday-Friday.

Due to an increase in claims filed and benefits requested the following changes have been made:

If you are FILING A CLAIM or REQUESTING BENEFITS, either on the Internet or using the phone system, please note you can do so based upon the last digit of your Social Security Number. Below is the schedule you should follow

If the last number of your Social Security Number is:

     - 0, 1, you can file your claim or request benefits on Monday
     - 2, 3, 4, 5 you can file your claim or request benefits on Tuesday
     - 6, 7, 8, 9 you can file your claim or request benefits on Wednesday

Hours for requesting benefits are Sunday 10am-9pm and Monday-Friday 7am-7pm.


The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training (OET) is part of the Department for Workforce Investment.  OET Staff provide job services, unemployment insurance services, Labor Market Information, and training opportunities.

Job Services match available workers with employers who need their skills and experience. Work search and referrals may be conducted locally, statewide and nationally.

Unemployment Insurance provides short term benefits for those who are unemployed through no fault of their own.

The system is available for filing the latest
additional 7 weeks extended benefits.

-- If you have filed a claim for the Extended Benefit, you must request your checks bi-weekly by calling 866-291-2926, you can not request them online.  If you are unsure of your filing status contact your nearest local office.

Labor Market Information contains a wide range of statistical data on employment and wage patterns. It is available locally, statewide and nationally to both businesses and job seekers.

Training opportunities are available through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for Adult Dislocated Worker and Youth who meet certain eligibility criteria.
