HOUSING PROGRAMS

 

Rural Development's Housing Programs seek to improve rural communities and the quality of life of its residents by providing loans and grants for housing and community facilities.  The availability of decent, safe, and affordable housing is limited in many rural areas, especially for low income persons.  RD's housing programs provide a source of affordable financing to purchase or repair a home and construct apartment units.  To strengthen the communities in which these residences are located, the Agency also provides funding for fire and police stations, hospitals, libraries, nursing homes, schools, and other essential community facilities. RD's Housing Programs programs fall into three areas:
