Mayor, Chief Lanier Reorganize MPD

Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier joined Mayor Fenty to announce a new structure for the department. The reorganization will streamline MPD and reduce the number of assistant chiefs. Read more.


EMS Task Force Releases Report

Mayor Fenty, Fire/EMS Chief Dennis Rubin and councilmembers presented the final report of the Task Force on Emergency Medical Services. The Task Force was created as part of the District's settlement with the family of David Rosenbaum, a journalist who died from injuries he sustained in a 2006 assault. Read more.


DC.gov Teams Up with Google

Mayor Fenty and District Chief Technology Officer Vivek Kundra joined Google Inc. executives to announce a new partnership to make information on DC.gov more accessible to the public. The search box on the website is now powered by Google. Read more.


Mayor Signs Convention Center Hotel Agreement

Mayor Fenty has signed an agreement for a new 1,150-room Marriott hotel across the street from the Washington Convention Center. The facility will comply with the District’s new green building standards. Read more.


$111 Million for Anacostia Waterfront

The District's financing package from the new United States Department of Transportation headquarters will yield millions for waterfront parks and infrastructure along the Anacostia River. This is the first time the site has generated revenue for the District. Read more.


Library Offers Free, Live Homework Help Online

District students in grades 4 through 12 and introductory-level college classes can get free online help with their studies. Help is available every day from 2 pm to midnight. Read more.
