About The Charter
The International Charter aims at providing a unified system of space data acquisition and delivery to those affected by natural or man-made disasters through Authorized Users. Each member agency has committed resources to support the provisions of the Charter and thus is helping to mitigate the effects of disasters on human life and property.

Flood in Western Washington, USA

The flooding - touched off by a combination of heavy rain and a warm spell that rapidly melted snow in the Cascade Mountains - is some of the worst on record in Washington state. More than 30,000 people were told to leave their homes.

European Workshop International Charter European workshop held at ESA ESRIN, Italy (November 2008)

In association with the French Space Agency (CNES) and the British National Space Centre (BNSC), the European Space Agency (ESA) organised a workshop to promote and optimise the access and use of satellite imagery for disaster response.
