Anonymity Warning
Contacting the FDIC OIG Hotline by Email:
The FDIC OIG provides an email-based Hotline you can use to report suspected fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement affecting the FDIC. Due to the nature of email, certain information about you is automatically communicated to the OIG, such as your screen name and email address. Therefore, by making use of email, you are not anonymous. It is important to note that the information being requested is being provided voluntarily, and that by submitting your request via email you are granting your consent for OIG to use that information to resolve the matter which you are bringing to OIG. Thus, disclosure may be made within the FDIC offices and divisions or with other federal, state, local, or tribal government or other third parties as necessary and appropriate in the circumstances
A hotline analyst creates a written record of the contact, and OIG officials carefully review each allegation to determine if it warrants further review or investigation. If criminal activity or other serious wrong doing is alleged, an OIG investigator or auditor is assigned to pursue the allegations. Other matters may be referred to FDIC management officials for review and action.
If you agree to waive your anonymity and use internet e-mail, ighotline@fdic.gov
