Promoting Partnerships, Generating Results

SABIT GROUP PROGRAM

WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
for Central Asia, Western Eurasia & the Caucasus

April 11 – May 9, 2009

SCOPE AND MISSION
The Special American Business Internship Training (SABIT) Water Resource Management Program is designed to train 18 mid- to senior-level water sector executives from Central Asia, Western Eurasia and the Caucasus. These delegates, screened and selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce, represent industry leaders who are seeking information on improvements in water infrastructure management, equipment, and treatment processes, among other topics.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The Water Resource Management Program will provide the delegation a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property rights in the United States. The goal is for these high-level professionals to return home with the skills and knowledge necessary to affect change and make improvements within their own organizations, countries and the region.

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION
This is a unique opportunity for U.S. companies to provide industry insight and training while showcasing their products and services to Eurasian counterparts. In addition, U.S. organizations hosting this delegation can start to build relationships with these professionals to exchange information and contacts. Through these valuable contacts, host companies can better explore commercial opportunities and partnerships in the region.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
This program will begin March 28, 2009 in Washington, D.C. with an orientation and visits to relevant government agencies and associations in the Washington, DC-area, including two days of training at USPTO. During the remaining two weeks the delegation will travel to select regions and cities across the country to meet with city and regional water treatment facilities, leading U.S. manufacturers, associations and state agencies.

HOST THIS DELEGATION
SABIT is currently looking for U.S. hosts to provide training for a few hours or a full day at their organizations. Training will cover the following topics that are relevant to the delegates, and represents some of the current challenges they face within their organizations:

Water source protection

Water distribution infrastructure

Treatment plants and facilities

Financing

Operations management

Water system maintenance

COST OF PARTICIPATION
SABIT will cover the majority of program costs for all delegates, including round-trip airfare to the United States, U.S. domestic travel, lodging, insurance, meals and incidental expenses, and interpreters to travel with the group. In turn, U.S. host companies and organizations are asked to provide their industry expertise in the topics pertaining to this particular program.
