A Welcome Message from John Hoffmann, DirectorHello and welcome to our Web site! This site is your access to USGS data, interpretive reports, press releases, photos and other information on the hydrology of Arizona. The Arizona Water Science Center is one of 48 USGS water science centers nationwide. Our mission is to provide reliable, impartial scientific information to our local, state, tribal, and federal cooperators so they can efficiently manage the water resources within their jurisdictions. Our data is also essential to protecting the citizens of Arizona against floods and other natural disasters. The public availability of consistent and objective, high-quality data provides the foundation for research and assessment by all entities working on Arizona water resource issues. Our cooperating governmental partners, consulting firms, and the general public rely on data and interpretations provided by the USGS. The technicians, scientists, and support staff of the USGS are dedicated to the highest professional standards for collection and dissemination of water- and earth-resources data, resource-assessment studies, and related research. The Arizona Water Science Center is organized into four offices—Tucson, Tempe, Flagstaff and Yuma. The offices are geographically located in the State to respond to hydrologic events and to maintain liaison with cooperating State and Federal agencies. The technical staff is organized into two sections: 1) the Hydrologic Data Program, which operates the data collection networks, and 2) the Hydrologic Investigations and Research Program, which investigates and assesses the quantity, quality, use, and development of the State’s water resources. With this home page, we've created an exciting new way of accessing our extensive water-related data and information. We invite you to explore the wealth of hydrologic data and information provided here and also the pages about who we are, what we do, and how we can serve you.
