Information Related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is a federal public law passed by the 111th United States Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009. A response to an economic crisis unlike any since the Great Depression, the Recovery Act makes supplemental appropriations for job preservation and creation, infrastructure investment, energy efficiency and science, health care preservation and improvement, expansion of education opportunities, assistance to the unemployed, and state and local fiscal stabilization, and for other purposes, for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2009.
Federal agencies will post ARRA grant information on their Web sites as it becomes available. For information on all federal grant opportunities under the ARRA, see each federal agency’s ARRA Web site.
In order to help Appalachian communities find information on ARRA grant opportunities, ARC staff has identified links to agency postings that may be of interest to economic and community development leaders and organizations in Appalachia. These links are organized by program area.

Most states now have ARRA Web pages on their sites, with information on what funding opportunities are available and how ARRA funds are being used in the state. For links to these pages, see the State Recovery Sites page on Recovery.gov.
ARC WEBINARS ON STIMULUS GRANTS
ARC is holding a series of webinars on ARRA grant opportunities in the following topic areas: education, energy, health, infrastructure, and telecommunications. During each webinar, a panel of ARC program experts will provide brief updates on each topic area; participants will then have the opportunity to ask the panelists questions.
The webinar tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, has been postponed. Information on the next ARC webinar will be emailed to ARC listserv subscribers and will be posted on this page. To subscribe to ARC's listserv for email notification of future ARRA webinars, send an email to info@arc.gov with “Add to Webinar List” as the subject line.
New information on ARRA grants will be posted on this site as it becomes available, under the ARRA grant program area pages (see links above).
