Exhibit Credits

This exhibit is derived from an educational poster created by Mr. Lowell Peart, working in collaboration with Mr. Thomas Flavin and his colleagues of the Office of Communications, Office of the Director, National Institutes of Health (NIH). The poster was issued in 1987 to commemorate the NIH's centennial, as defined by the creation, in August 1887, of the "Laboratory of Hygiene" at the Marine Hospital on Staten Island.

The online exhibit was prepared by David Harding and R. P. C. Rodgers, M.D., at the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, National Library of Medicine.
