Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that
the President has nominated Lieutenant General Anthony C. Zinni,
United States Marine Corps, for reappointment to the grade of
lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Commander-in-Chief,
U.S. Central Command.
Since July 1994, he has served as the
Commanding General I Marine Expeditionary Force.
Lieutenant General Zinni was born on September 17, 1943 in
Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
