The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. William S. Kinzer Jr., 27, of Hendersonville, N.C., died Jan. 26 in Ad Duluiyah, Iraq, from injuries sustained when a rocket propelled grenade hit his patrol. Kinzer was assigned to the 1^st Squadron, 4^th Cavalry Regiment, 1^st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
