The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Cpl. Joseph O. Behnke, 45, of Brooklyn, New York, died Dec. 4 in Baghdad, Iraq, when he was in a vehicle accident. Behnke was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1^st Battalion, 258^th Field Artillery Regiment, Brooklyn, New York.
