IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 403-95
July 25, 1995

MAJOR GENERAL ALBERT C. HARVEY APPOINTED TO RESERVE FORCES POLICY BOARD

Secretary of Defense William Perry has announced the designation of Maj. Gen. Albert C. Harvey, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, as a member of the Reserve Forces Policy Board, effective July 24, 1995. Harvey currently serves as the Deputy J-3, Operations, U.S. Atlantic Command, Norfork, Va.

The 24-member Reserve Forces Policy Board was created by Congress in 1952. Acting through the assistant secretary of defense for reserve affairs, the board serves as the principle policy advisor to the Secretary of Defense on reserve component matters. Members include the assistant secretary responsible for reserve affairs from each of the military departments, and active and reserve component general and flag officers representing all Services, including the Coast Guard.

The general, who holds two degrees including one with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Law, received his commission in the Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Class Program in June 1961. His 34-year career includes active service during Vietnam and Desert Storm, and duties in a variety of staff and command positions.

General Harvey and his spouse, Nancy Rutherford, have two daughters, Anne and Elizabeth.
