DEFENSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON WOMEN IN THE SERVICES TO VISIT SERVICEMEMBERS INFAR EAST

The Executive Committee of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) will visit with military personnel at commands in Alaska, Okinawa, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Hawaii from July 8-22, 1995.

The purpose of the trip is to enhance the knowledge of DACOWITS members concerning duty overseas and to note the concerns of servicemembers on areas such as forces development and utilization, equality management and quality of life. Findings from the trip will be reported to the Secretary of Defense.

DACOWITS was established in 1951 by Secretary of Defense George C. Marshall. The Committee is composed of 41 civilian members selected for their achievements in business, the professions, and civil and public service. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Secretary of Defense on policies and matters relating to personnel, specifically those matters relating to women in the Services. Since 1986, the Executive Committee has visited over 90 overseas installations.
