Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced that the President has nominated:

 

            Maj. Gen. Benjamin C. Freakley, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Commanding General, U.S. Army Accessions Command/Deputy Commanding General for Initial Military Training, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia. He is currently serving as the Commanding General, 10th Mountain Division (Light) and Fort Drum, Fort Drum, New York.

 

            Maj. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sorenson, U.S. Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Chief Information Officer/Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. He is currently serving as Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, D.C.
