Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced the following flag officer assignments:

 

     Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) (selectee) Gerard M. Mauer, Jr., is being assigned as assistant chief of staff for plans and policy, Allied Command, Transformation.  Mauer is currently assigned as assistant deputy director for information operations, J-39, Joint Staff.

 

     Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) (selectee) William H. McRaven is being assigned as deputy commanding general for operations, Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.  McRaven is currently assigned as director for strategy and defense issues, National Security Council, The White House, Washington, D.C.
