Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael C. Gould for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as superintendent, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. Gould is currently serving as director, operations and plans, Headquarters U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
