FLAG AND GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today the designation of Navy Vice Adm. Scott A. Fry as the Joint Staff member of the Reserve Forces Policy Board. Fry is currently serving as the director of the Joint Staff, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C.

MAJOR GENERAL

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced today that Army Maj. Gen. Gregory A. Rountree is being assigned as principal director, deputy assistant secretary of Defense, European and NATO Affairs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Washington, D.C. Rountree is currently serving as special assistant to the deputy chief of staff for Operations and Plans, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

BRIGADIER GENERALS

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced today the following assignments:

Army Brig. Gen. Keith B. Alexander is being assigned as commanding general, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Va. Alexander is currently serving as director for Intelligence, J-2, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Army Brig. Gen. Franklin L. Hagenbeck is being assigned as deputy director, Current Operations, J-33, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. Hagenbeck is currently serving as deputy director for Global, Multilateral Issues, International-American Affairs, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced today that Army Col. (P) Charles H. Jacoby, Jr., is being assigned as deputy director for Global, Multilateral Issues, International-American Affairs, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. Jacoby is currently serving as executive officer to the commander in chief, U.S. Southern Command, Miami, Fla.
