GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. Paul V. Hester for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, U. S. Forces Japan; and commander, Fifth Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, Yokota AB, Japan. Hester is currently assigned as director, Legislative Liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Headquarters U. S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
