The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Richard M. Lord, 24, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Aug. 18 from injuries received due to enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1^st Battalion, 8^th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
