The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Hoby F. Bradfield Jr., 22, of The Woodlands, Texas, died July 9 in Tal Afar, Iraq while he was conducting a dismounted cordon search. Bradfield was assigned to the Armys 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.
