Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Army Lt. Gen. Keith B. Alexander has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as director, National Security Agency/chief, Central Security Service, Fort Meade, Md. Alexander is currently serving as the deputy chief of staff, G-2, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Maj. Gen. John F. Kimmons has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general. Kimmons is currently serving as commanding general, United States Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Brig. Gen. Paulette M. Risher has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Risher is currently serving as deputy commander, Mobilization and Reserve Affairs, United States Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Army Brig. Gen Eric B. Schoomaker for appointment to the rank of major general. Schoomaker is currently serving as commanding general, United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and Fort Detrick, Fort Detrick, Md.
