GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Gary H. Hughey for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as the deputy commander and chief of staff, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Hughey is currently serving as the deputy commander and chief of staff, U.S. Forces Japan, Yokota, Japan.
