GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT AND FLAG OFFICER ASSIGNMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Army Reserve Brig. Gen. William S. Crupe, for appointment to the rank of major general, Reserve of the Army. Crupe is currently serving as the commander, 143d Transportation Command, Orlando, Fla.

REAR ADMIRAL

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced today the following flag officer assignments:

Navy Rear Adm. Donald C. Arthur Jr. is being assigned as commander, Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. and Chief of the Medical Corps. Arthur is currently assigned as deputy director for Naval Medicine, N093B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, deputy chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and Chief of the Medical Corps.

Navy Rear Adm. Kevin J. Cosgriff is being assigned as director, Programming Division, N80, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. Cosgriff is currently assigned as commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group Eight.

Navy Rear Adm. Kathleen L. Martin is being assigned as deputy director for Naval Medicine, N093B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and deputy chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. Martin is currently assigned as commander, Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.

Navy Rear Adm. Ronald A. Route is being assigned as commander, Navy Warfare Development Command. Route is currently assigned as director, Programming Division, N80, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.

Navy Rear Adm. Charles B. Young is being assigned as director for Strategic Systems Programs. Young is currently assigned as vice commander, Naval Sea Systems Command.
