Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced today that he has appointed Stephen A. Cambone to serve as director, Office of Program Analysis and Evaluation. Cambone will leave his current post as principal deputy under secretary of Defense for Policy and take up his new position effective immediately.
"Steve Cambone has helped guide us through the development of a new defense strategy, a fundamental reassessment of our nuclear posture, and a host of other initiatives that reflect the capabilities of the future as we understand it," said Rumsfeld. "He is well-suited to take the lead in translating our policies into budgets that can transform the Defense Department."
In his new position Cambone will report directly to the secretary of Defense.
