Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Navy Vice Adm. Gregory G. Johnson for appointment to the grade of admiral and assignment as commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Europe, and commander, Regional Command South, Naples, Italy. Johnson is currently serving as commander, Sixth Fleet, and commander, Naval Striking and Support Forces Southern Europe, Gaeta, Italy.
